Color Blocking

The idea of blocking in color can make creating paintings easier. When you block in color you are filling in sections with color. After your sketch, begin with the background.

Four steps:
1. Use paint or a pencil to sketch your subject.

 2. Color block the background. Fill in the whole background with the colors you select.

3. Color block the subject. Fill in the subject of your painting with the colors you want.

4. Add details to finish your painting.
