Make a Series

Image
Create a series of 3 or more works of art. Begin by envisioning a subject for your art (picture ideas in your mind).  Think of 3 ways to create your subject or select from the list below.  Envision and create each part of your series.  Then take a picture of your series all together or take individual photographs. List of ideas for making a series: 1.   Change Elements Focus on a different Element of Art: color, form, line, shape, space, texture, and value. For example: if you focused on color for one part of your series, you could focus on line or shape for this part.  2.   Change Location Create your subject in a different place.  Ideas: underwater, outer space, by a sunset, in a city, farm, desert, forest, on a boat, swimming, flying, etc.  3.   Change Position Create your subject in a different position or viewed from a different angle (like a bird's eye view or a worm's eye view). 4.   Change Media Draw

Laundry Collage

Image
Gather some clothes, towels, blankets, scarves, socks, etc. Look at the items and decide what you would like to create (ideas: a portrait, animal, landscape, and more).  Arrange the items, add any other objects you need, and take a picture. Then be sure to put everything back where you found it. Have fun! Laundry Collage: Portrait Time-lapse Video

Fingerprint Creatures

Image
Create art using your fingerprint and a pen. This idea was thought of by one of my third grade students.  The image above shows the art created by J.R., a third grade student.  Thank you for this great idea! Directions : Use a marker, stamp pad, or paint to create fingerprints Color or paint on your finger then press firmly on to a piece of paper.  Note: some markers are not washable (even if they are labeled washable), the ink from the marker might stain your fingers for a few hours. It will wash off eventually. Use a pen or thin marker to add details to change your fingerprint into creatures, machines, people, or anything you can imagine. Have fun! Watercolor Painting

Image
Create a watercolor painting.  I found a picture of a "Bird of Paradise" and used it as a reference while I painted. In the beginning of the video I used a wet on wet technique. Wet the paper first and then add color. This technique allows the paint to be able to be blended and moved around longer.

Food Art

Image
With clean hands (seriously, go wash your hands first) create art by arranging food items. Be sure to take a picture of your creations before you eat the food or put everything away.  Have fun!
